Traditionally, Halloween night is the perfect time for monsters to run wild and free. However, the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway has decided that they want to unleash their monsters this Saturday night, November 9th. Round three of the speedway's 2013-2014 Winter Blast Racing Series, presented by Next Era Energy Resources, will be a very special evening titled: The Monster Truck Night Of Fire And Thrills. This special evening will feature high powered monster trucks as well as a flame throwing fire truck that has to be seen to be believed. Also thrilling the fans will be stock car racing action from the Gene Price Motorsports Late Model Series and the NAPA Auto Parts Factory Stocks.
The spectator gates will open at 5pm this Saturday with the thrilling action getting underway at 7pm. This special evening is being sponsored by Valley Beverage, the local distributor of Budweiser products. The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway is located at the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California.
The monster trucks will be grabbing some major air while performing a freestyle exhibition. These high powered behemoths will be sporting intimidating names, fitting to their size and power, such as Reaper's Revenge, Lucas Oil Shocker, Iron Outlaw and the world champion truck known as the Bounty Hunter.
To get an idea of just how big and powerful these monster trucks are, the Lucas Oil Shocker has the body style of a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado that weighs 10,500 pounds and is powered by an engine that produces 1,200 plus horsepower. The truck measures ten feet high, 12 feet wide and 20 feet long.
Unlike its fire truck counterparts, the Raging Inferno lights fires instead of putting them out. Employing a rock concert type fire and smoke show, with a high powered jet engine, this fire truck is capable of shooting massive flames up to 75 feet complete with ground pounding burner pops. The Raging Inferno is going to demonstrate its fire power Saturday night with a melt down show on a van. As powerful as this machine is, it's also gentle enough to take your kids out for a fun ride. Raging Inferno rides for kids will be offered for only $5 before the show, during the show's intermission and after the show has concluded.
There's also going to be plenty of stock car action on the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway's quarter mile paved oval. The Gene Price Motorsports Late Model Series will be making their Winter Blast season debut this Saturday night and will treat the fans to a 50 lap main event. Sponsored by the famed race car fabrication shop, and high performance parts distributor located in Parker-Arizona, this series is a special two track championship points series shared with the Havasu 95 Speedway located, just down the highway from Blythe, in Lake Havasu City-Arizona.
Blythe driver Mike Sutterfield has literally owned the series championship over the past three years and is the current champion. However, it's highly expected there will be a list of late model veteran drivers who will be on hand to end Sutterfield's domination. That includes names like Ron Daniel, Elias Garland, Jim Putnam and Taylor Cuzick just to name a few.
The fan favorite, racing is rubbing, NAPA Auto Parts Factory Stocks will be making their third appearance of the winter racing season Saturday night. Early season numbers indicates that this championship could go down to the final lap of the final race as it has done in past seasons. Going into Saturday night, there are only ten points separating the top three drivers. Former series champion John Lowrence leads the standings with 58 points after winning the series' last race back on October 26th. Current division champ Ethan Miller, who won the season opener back on September 28th, is ranked second in the standings only four points away from the leader. Series veteran Joe Van Dyke is third and only ten points away from the top.
General admission tickets for this special edition of Valley Beverage-Budweiser raceday are only $15 and $12 for seniors age 55 plus, military personnel and the handicapped. Kid's tickets, age five to 17, are $10 while kids under five are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. The speedway will also be offering a budget friendly family package for $40 which admits two adults and two kids age 17 and under.
